Summer may be winding down, but there’s still plenty to do in state parks this month!

Want to do some good? The annual International Coastal Cleanup is this Saturday, Sept. 21. Volunteers will be cleaning up shorelines from the Long Beach Peninsula to Port Townsend. Many coastal Washington state parks will be part of the cleanup: Cape Disappointment, Ocean City, Pacific Beach and Twin Harbors.

Celebrate Fall…a little early. The Friends of Schafer and Lake Sylvia state parks invite you to the Discover Lake Sylvia Fall Festival Saturday, Sept. 21. This annual event features trail races, pancake breakfast, artists’ market, live music and more. The free event is great for the whole family!

Take a walk through history. The Friends of Sacajawea State Park presents their annual Heritage Days Sept. 27 and 28, at the site where the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery camped more than 200 years ago. Experience how life was back then through interactive displays and reenactments.

Visit a park for free. On Saturday, Sept. 28, you won’t need a Discover Pass to visit a park. Entrance fees are waived for day-use visits by vehicle.

Learn more about these events and programs on our online calendar.
